Purposeful Design

Slatted Shoe bench

Purposeful Design

A client approached me seeking a solution to conceal their fibre broadband installation, keeping the router and sockets out of reach of little fingers. We discussed creating a functional and practical piece that would blend seamlessly into their home.

The result was this unique shoe bench for their entry hall. Crafted from reclaimed vintage pine sourced from a closed secondhand bookshop, the bench not only complements their period floorboards but also features a slatted design that allows for ventilation while maintaining a stylish appearance.

Reclaimed Makeover

Reclaimed Makeover

A change of ownership for an East Sussex coffee shop (https://www.babylatte.co.uk) meant the new owner was looking to refresh the image. They wanted to use as many reclaimed and sustainable options as possible in the process.

They were looking for some hardwearing reclaimed wooden tables to fit their space that could stand up to lots of use and be easily cleaned.

The boards that were used in this project were sourced locally within 13 miles from the coffee shop from a scaffolding company that was closing its doors. These were then meticulously sanded and cracks filled to enable easy cleaning and wiping, aided by a water-based topcoat that provides a tough, water- and scratch-resistant surface.

Five reclaimed scaffold tables and a matching bench are now in place and have helped to transform the interior to the new owner’s vision for their business.

The easiest bespoke ordering service. Rowan guided me through the process advising me what products would be suitable for my need and use. I love the finished product and we keep getting compliments on our new tables! I’ve just placed my second order and can’t wait to see this larger table.

Reclaimed Geometric Mirror

Reborn

A customer who had recently moved into a property and was in the process of renovating it found a large piece of vintage mirror in the roof space. They also had leftover timber from the work on the home and stored by the previous owner .
Working with the customer to develop the design, this statement piece was created. It now creates a great impact in their entrance hall.

Found The Right Home

Geometric Shelf

Found The Right Home

This geometric shelf was customised from one of our original designs. We added the natural tessellation pattern of cut ended bamboo into one of the spaces giving honeycomb bee vibes.

This was commissioned by a teacher and fittingly it was made from timber from old school gym equipment and with bamboo that was cut down from a garden clearance.

This gives the top a truly one of a kind look with an interesting story.

Pizza Table

We Like Pizza!

This Pizza Table was a bespoke commission that was ordered as a birthday surprise for the customer’s partner.

The brief was for an outdoor table that would be suitable for making pizzas on, this was created and topped off with salvaged over-stocked tiles for a workable surface that can be kept super clean for pizza preparation.

The Social Network

Reclaimed Coffee Table

The Social Network

This reclaimed wooden table was “crowd” designed through various Instagram votes. The table design was chosen by our followers, from the over-all design to the method used in construction.

The timber for this project was from the back of an old welsh dresser that had been damaged from Isfield East Sussex and also from leftover off cuts being cleared out of someone’s storage in Seaford East Sussex.

An Imperfect Game

Reclaimed wood draughts game

An Imperfect Game

This reclaimed draughts set was created after being offered a door that had been removed from someone’s property to make way for a new one.

There was a challenge as to what could be done with the odd size pieces of timber that made up the door panels.

Inspired by the darkness of the timber and how it contrasted against the lightness of ash and oak the idea of creating a limited run draughts set.
